This public health physician explains his viewpoint of the challenges.

“The work processes in primary care are very different than in public health. Primary care work processes tend to be focused on individual and episodic care, while public health tends to be quite different. There is a lot more group work, field work, and a lot more regulatory work. So, there are quite different work processes that make it hard to bring and meld the two together.”
